Jesus in you, the Gift of Eternal Life

Send a Christmas Greetings to your friends

Dear friend, we wish you Happy Yeshu Jayanti! We celebrate Christmas as the time when God entered humanity, specifically the birth of Jesus. One of the highlights of Christmas celebration is the giving and receiving of gifts. It might be a pleasant surprise for us to know that God wants to participate in the gift giving as well. God entered humanity to grant us the greatest gift, the ‘gift of Eternal Life’ for our souls. With this greeting, we are inviting you to unveil and experience this mystery; Jesus in you, the Gift of Eternal Life.

Eternal Life is experienced when we enjoy unhindered relationship with our Maker. Deep inside, all of us eagerly long to experience it and make serious attempts to reach and live at this level of existence. We try out several methods known to us and unbeknownst to us embark on the spiritual quest to connect with God. It’s like a trip to reach the highest moral standing humanly possible, with the desire to reach God.

Human EffortsThis quest is analogous to the story of the three trekkers who tried to reach the highest point on earth, Mount Everest. The three serious climbers set out on the journey, choosing three different margas (paths). When they began, all looked enthusiastic, but only one had the self determination to climb to the top. The one who climbed the least thought, “I am not as good as the other two”. The second one thought, “I am not bad, I am better than most”. The third one bragged saying, “I have reached the highest level possible”. It was night time when he reached the peak. As the trekker took a deep breath and looked heavenward, he noticed that the stars had lined up in a unique pattern. He strained his eyes a bit and read out the message from the stars, “God’s Level”. He quickly recognized he looked good only when he compared himself against human standards, he was too far away from God’s standards.
His High Standard

Whether we climb only to foothills or journey to the peak, the stars are light years away. Though this story is fictitious, it has parallels with our quest for God - Human best is never enough to reach God’s perfect standard. This separation is caused by our innate sinful nature. Our sin separates us from God and prevents the flow of Eternal Life into us. The result is spiritual death.

BUT, Christmas is a reminder that God has not given up on us. Jesus said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost”. Jesus is looking for us, even while we are busily trying our own ways to climb to God. The seeker is sought by God. In our story it’s as if a hand from heaven comes to reach all three climbers wherever they are. The quest ends when we get hold of God’s hand.

God's Love & Mercy
To reach us, the barrier of separation had to be cleared. God did this when the perfectly pure (sinless - Jesus) takes on the consequence of our sin. God suffered (death on the cross) on our behalf. After death, when Jesus came back to life in three days, it became clear that the barrier of spiritual death was broken by His sacrifice. By this sacrifice, Jesus has become our door to Eternal Life.

This one statement does a good summary of God’s rescue mission, “For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
God’s word says, “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.” Jesus Free Gift

When we accept God’s offer, it like getting hold of His stretched out hand from heaven. Walking through the door (Jesus) will begin a new life in us and end our quest for God. Now we can begin living a purposeful life for God.

The omniscient God knows our plight, how long can we hide from His love. When we recognize our true need, we are able to repent and believe. Then we can receive Jesus in us by willing to live a life yielded to God’s direction.

If we find ourselves resisting God’s sacrificial love Gift, it’s a sure sign that the innate sinful nature is fighting against God’s best for us. My friend, please consider yielding to the gentle nudging from God. God loves you as you are His creation. May God’s love find you and end your search for God. Then you can begin the journey of obedience to God’s plan for your life, to live out the Eternal Life. May Jesus be born in your life, as Jesus (our connection with God) in you is the source of Eternal Life. Happy Yeshu Jayanti!
